FAQ’s

* What is Zumba?

Zumba is a group exercise class. The class is structured to get you fit in a fun way! We use dance and latin rythms to move and get the body working. Imagine you are on holiday after a few cocktails and shake your inhibitions away. We may do upto 15 different dances in one hour and you will get hot and sweaty but will be left wanting more. Salsa, merengue, reggaeton, cumbia, belly dance, its all here!

* What is Zumba Toning?

The biggest difference with Zumba Toning is the use of ‘light weights’. These can be two bottles of water or handweights or the official Zumba Toning Stick (Unfortunately these are not currently available in the UK but will be soon). I would recommend the cheap option of water bottles but if you buy hand weights they MUST NOT be heavier than 1.5kg. We use bodysculpting moves and a slower pace. You are likely to feel ‘muscle burn’ with fantastic firming results.

* Am I too old?

No! If you are physically able to walk to class you can do Zumba. We have ladies in their 70′s in our classes

* What type of exercise is Zumba?

It is a form of interval training. We work your heart and lungs and get you fit – fast. Remember while having FUN. We will do some fast dances followed by slower ones so you can recover ready to up the tempo again. It is fat burning and great for keeping the body mobile

* What is the minimum age allowed in a Zumba Class?

We have members from 11+ in Zumba Fitness and 14+ in Zumba Toning. We often have mothers and daughter working out along side each other.

* Do men come to the class?

All classes provided by us (www.herfitness.co.uk) are women only.

* I haven’t exercised for a long time, will I be able to do zumba?

Yes! Zumba can be done at different levels, low imapct or high impact. Small moves or big moves, everyone puts their own intensity into the class.

* I haven’t done a dance fitness class before will I be able to do Zumba?

Absolutely! There is no wrong or right way to Zumba. The moves are not too complicated and are repeated to match the music so is very easy to pick up. As you get to know the routines you will know them as well as your instructor.

* What do I wear to Zumba?

An outfit that you are comfortable to move in. Leggings and a t shirt is the usual with a pair of trainers.

* What footwear is best?

Trainers that are bulky or have a strong grip will not be ideal. A thinner sole with some heel shock absorbancy is good with good support around the foot.
